Our Finance Team is a core function, managing a wide range of responsibilities including financial accounting, management accounting, finance business partnering, credit control, tax, treasury and payroll. We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Accountant to join our highly successful and acquisitive Private Equity backed company as we venture into further consolidation and accelerated growth. Revenue has more than doubled in the past four years to c£180m and the business is fast-moving, which allows for a high degree of influence at this role’s level. What will you be doing? Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the Group Financial Controller, you will take responsibility for the preparation of the Consolidated Group statutory accounts along with the individual statutory accounts. In addition, the role will have a key focus on ensuring consistency in controls across the Group and ensuring the Group finance teams are complying with FRS102. The role will play a key part in our annual financial audit (alongside the Financial Controller) and help with ad-hoc projects such as rationalising the Group structure. You will: Prepare monthly management accounts for the central holding companies and maintain balance sheet reconciliations for these entities Prepare the monthly consolidation, ensuring key checks and balances are understood Maintain the monthly fixed asset register with input from other areas of the Group Review balance sheet reconciliations from across the Group and ensure consistency throughout Prepare the consolidated and individual statutory accounts in accordance with FRS102 Act as one of the main points of contact for external auditors Assist in the preparation of audit technical papers such as acquisition accounting, impairment and going concern Help to improve current Group reporting, ensuring there is a defined process when new acquisitions are brought into the Group and all relevant data is held centrally Assist in creating a new Group accounting manual to be distributed around the Group Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls and systems and be pro-active in implementing these changes Assist with company secretary duties and working with our external legal advisors to assist in any company secretarial work, such as group rationalisation projects Keeping up to date with new accounting standards and performing impact assessments specific to BES Group As part of our team, you will get: A starting salary between £50,000 - £55,000, depending on experience A flexible working approach; the role will be based in our Manchester city centre office, with some home based working available (you must have suitable Wi-Fi, and provide your own office set-up for time spent working from home) Up to 10% pension contribution 2 x life cover Enhanced maternity / adoption leave Annual salary review 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays An additional day’s holiday for your birthday every year Access to our buy and sell holiday scheme Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme Discounts and savings via our employee benefits portal Health and wellbeing support via our Employee Assistance Programme Company-wide volunteering scheme Guaranteed fundraising support for your chosen charity To join our team, you will need: ACA fully qualified Minimum 2:1 degree Consolidation knowledge and experience (essential) Experience in writing technical accounting papers (essential) Control improvement knowledge and experience (essential) Audit background (essential) Understanding of FRS102 (essential) Strong Excel skills Attention to detail and enthusiasm to challenge and improve processes Strong numeracy and analytical skills Strong organisation skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise workloads Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong internal relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues and provide challenge where required Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
