ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
* Location: Hybrid (GL7)
* Contract Type: Permanent
* Pay: £30,000-£40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
* Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (flexible hours)
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant, ideally with construction industry experience but not essential. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the production of accounts, completing daily, weekly, and monthly financial tasks that culminate in the production of forecasts, management accounts, and balance sheets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work with multiple companies and locations
* Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
* Handle VAT & CIS returns, accruals, and prepayments
* Post monthly journals and manage intercompany transfers
* Conduct monthly sales invoicing and sales ledger control
* Create bi-weekly and monthly payment runs for accounts payable
* Assist in ad hoc tasks/projects
* Prepare individual management accounts and issue them to senior managers
* Coordinate monthly P&L performance review meetings with operations
* Update the fixed asset register monthly and post depreciation journals
Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience in a similar role
* Solid accounting/bookkeeping experience through to trial balance level and beyond
* Experience using accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics & Sage preferred)
* Minimum 3 years' practical accounting experience within a group or working with multiple companies
* Self-motivated and focused
* Competent in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, sums, vlookups, filters)
* Strong attention to detail
* Ideally AAT level 4 or beyond
* Flexibility and excellent organisational skills
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
* Great telephone manner
