A door of opportunity has opened in Hepatobiliary (HPB) service for a nurse specialist to provide specialist care and support to people suffering from HPB Cancer at the Royal Derby and Queens Hospital Burton.
You will ensure patients are supported within the specialist field and will work closely with the HPB Surgeons, Hepatologists, Oncology Consultants and wider team members.
We are looking for someone who is passionate, driven and motivated. Substantial experience is desirable but not essential.
The responsibility includes providing high quality care to our patients and having excellent, sensitive communication skills. If you possess these qualities, we would like to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
As a HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist you will have knowledge and experience of hepatobiliary disorders / cancers or previous experience as a CNS. Along with the existing HPB CNS team you will support Patients, Consultants and the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialists. You will be a point of contact for the patients and their family and assist in coordinating their care through the cancer pathway, managing your own work load and case load of patients.
You will support in all aspects of the patients journey and experience through the HPB Cancer pathway from referral, diagnostics and treatment - surgical and oncological and supportive care. The role will see you supporting patients in outpatients areas, consultant clinics within Hepatology, Surgery and Oncology as well as on the wards and over the telephone.
The role requires a registered nurse who has compassion, empathy and excellent communication skills to be able to support patients. With the support of the team you will be able to manage the challenges of delivering complex information. You will also have excellent organisation skills and be able to manage your time and work load whilst working independently and as part of the team.
