The opportunity
We are looking for a dedicated Personal Progress Mentor to support post-16 learners on their academic and personal journeys to success. This vital role within our Sixth Form offers the opportunity to shape the student experience positively.

We currently have two vacancies for the Personal Progress Mentor position at our thriving Sixth Form college. In this exciting role, you will work with A Level learners, offering academic and pastoral support through one-on-one sessions, study skills development, and engaging tutorials. You will be responsible for approximately 180 learners, planning and delivering relevant tutorials while ensuring essential training on safeguarding and staying safe is provided.
With high aspirations for all our learners, we encourage and support their progression to Higher Education, with over 30% students heading to Russell Group universities and some pursuing Oxbridge. Your guidance will be essential in navigating the UCAS application process and supporting those interested in degree apprenticeships or employment by liaising with employers for work placements.

About you
As the ideal candidate for the Personal Progress Mentor role, you will be an excellent communicator who thrives in a focused educational environment, placing students at the heart of your work. You will actively engage in our diverse tutorial programme, which emphasises developing independent A Level students through a Growth Mindset approach. Your commitment to high standards will inspire learners to cultivate the skills necessary for progression to leading universities, guiding them through their UCAS applications and supporting those aiming for Russell Group institutions.

In this role, you will provide both pastoral and academic support through tutorials, study sessions, and one-on-one assistance, helping students with their next steps, including UCAS and job applications, while enhancing their organisational, time management, and study skills. You will also address attendance issues and support learners who are not meeting their target grades.
Minimum Requirements
* Teaching qualification (must be willing to work towards Level 5 PGCE if not already held)
* Experience of teaching/delivering tutorials/undertaking pastoral care in an education environment
Preferred
* Degree in relevant Sixth Form College subject
* Ability to use IT to support delivery and maintain learner records
