Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Controls Manager (PCM) to manage the project controls team across the entire programme for a high profile client across the UK as part of our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.
There are presently four significant projects within the programme, which involve a number of UK wide locations for our client.
This role can be based at any of our UK offices on a hybrid / remote basis with the expectation of regular travel as required.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced PCM with a proven track record in robust cost and schedule management, ideally coming from a Cost Control background, to take on a complex programme of works for a high-profile client.
Managing a team of 12 Project Controls personnel, you will be responsible for all aspects of cost and schedule reporting and management, ensuring you use your leadership skills to guide the team towards an effective and commercially astute delivery performance, month on month. Part of this will be foreseeing, managing and mitigating against any risk and ensuring the Client and Project leadership team are kept informed at all stages.
In this role, you will be a key part of the project leadership team, working very closely with the Project Director and project management community. Interface management with the engineering and technical communities, together with interacting with key senior stakeholders across the Consulting business, is a prime requirement.
In addition to internal communication, supportive and collaborative engagement with the Client is essential.

Expected:
* Previous significant experience in a PCM position across a demanding portfolio
* Proven record in delivering against tight cost budgets and schedules
* Background in Cost Control is ideal or Planning with an excellent understanding of cost management
* Significant experience and capability in management of contracts, budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling and management of change
* An appreciation of Lean tools, management and techniques
* The ability to work in a highly structured manner, adapting to the financial reporting calendar, with the leadership skills to ensure the project controls and management teams are aligned to understanding the in-period, in-year and lifecycle status of their projects
* The ability to coach, train and influence the project community, as needed
* The ability to work under pressure and achieve tight timelines
* Teambuilding attributes, with the ability to celebrate success and promote key talent
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
* Previous experience leading a team
* Good mentoring skills: teaches, coaches, and mentors to help assure individual and team success as well as develop the next generation
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelors) Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience)
