Permanent, part time 22.2 hours per week (0.6FTE flexibility on how these hours are worked) Band 3 - £28,081 to £31,387 per annum About the Post This post is based in the Institute for Social Justice and Crime (ISJC) and the post-holder will be an integral part of the research team. The post holder will support the preparation of funding applications (pre-award) from within the ISJC working closely with the wider research directorate and professional service teams across the university. The post holder will be written in to provide administration, project management and support to funded projects as required. The post holder will implement, maintain, and continually review for best practice, project, and programme management processes to enable appropriate project prioritising, planning, budgetary control and effective resourcing. You will be responsible for financial control and reporting for projects and will be the main point of contact with our finance department for responding to, and resolving, budget and expense queries. You will be responsible for supporting the co-ordination of research bids and projects, including developing and tracking project plans. You will also assist with setting up and minuting meetings, supporting the research team with travel arrangements and expenses, liaising with external stakeholders, and dealing with confidential information and sensitive data. As a representative for the institute, the post holder will work with all stakeholders to provide high quality project and programme management, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard. The post holder will also (as needed) generally support the day to day running of the institute including networks that it hosts. About the Team The Institute for Social Justice and Crime takes an ambitious and collaborative approach, engaging in transformational research to tackle complex issues through an intersectional lens, expanding academic, policy and practice knowledge. The Institute’s research will further develop knowledge of multi-agency practices to improve their service to the community, increase public safety and to facilitate social justice. Interdisciplinary, mixed and creative methodologies are key to the Institute’s approach to research. The ISJC provides a nurturing research culture where all researchers are valued and mentored to ensure they achieve their potential, whilst prioritising everyone’s health and wellbeing. We have several areas of core expertise: domestic abuse, online harms, sexual violence, policing, theorising (social justice), complex systems change, gangs and criminal exploitation. We also have emerging areas of expertise in wellbeing, digital justice and activism, digital and food poverty, access to justice, gender and sexuality, racial justice, epistemic injustice, children, young people, childhoods and education as an axis of inequality, veterans, socially-just and future-making practices, locally and globally and trauma informed practice. We are interested in all research that reflects our principles of equity, intersectionality, inclusivity, wellbeing, and transformational change. About You Experience working in a research or administrative role is essential This post is well suited to someone with an interest in research project administration and management, as well as those considering a research career. An understanding of the demands on researchers in a University environment and the broader research landscape is required. Experience of collaborative team working to achieve project outcomes and of financial processes and budget management is essential. Excellent organisation, communication and multi-tasking skills are needed.
