Role Purpose We are looking for an organised and experienced Relationship Manager to manage a strategic supplier in a key strand of the SunLife business inbound and outbound printed communications. We’re after someone with previous experience in supplier management, being able to demonstrate a track record of delivery in a fast moving area with a keen eye on best practice/making things simple and a tight rein on quality and cost management. This is a varied role: managing multiple outsourced business operations including ; gift sourcing, print production, mail room and mail service provider services. You’ll need proven relationship management skills and experience in commercial negotiations, adherence to contract terms and management level presentations and reporting. Role Accountabilties You’ll build strong, constructive and collaborative relationships with key contacts within current and future third parties to ensure the delivery of high quality, on time and efficient inbound and outbound customer communications You’ll have a strong commercial focus demonstrating competitive sourcing of customer reward packages You’ll be accountable for the effective governance and for driving solutions to deliver an agile business strategy You’ll be curious both internally and externally to ensure you are sought out as a subject matter expert, providing proactive insights into how new ideas or technologies can support and drive business initiatives You’ll produce and communicate high quality governance reporting and trend analysis to support senior management, committees and boards You’ll ensure robust processes and controls are maintained and adapted to align to business objectives You’ll discover opportunities for ongoing process efficiencies to drive reduced delivery time, costs and improved customer outcomes You’ll maintain and actively evidence robust quality assurance controls to deliver to business requirements How you’ll be successful (measures) You’ll demonstrate best practice relationship management and governance reporting with clear trends and improvements identified and action-ed You’ll get close to the internal business and build a reputation for being the subject matter expert providing collaborative support, new ideas and guidance on all relationship matters so no surprises You’ll demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities whilst remaining level headed and knowing when to ask for help You’ll demonstrate courage in escalating risks, breaches or compliance concerns in line with SunLife policy You’ll deliver accurate and on time reporting tailored to each audience You’ll evidence process, quality controls and improvements and their positive impact towards supporting business objectives, rather than relying on the status quo You’ll be confident enough to celebrate when things have gone well and promote solutions when they haven’t Who you’ll be working with Mail room, print and postal suppliers Customer reward programme suppliers Marketing colleagues IT and Change colleagues Risk & Governance colleagues Skills & Experience Ability to operate at multiple levels depending on what needs to be done Supplier Management experience, including commercial negotiations, governance and the day to day Proven track record of process management and improvement experience Highly effective communication skills – verbal and written Ability to stay calm under pressure, address challenges and find solutions to keep things moving Environment SunLife is a small business with around 120 people in our Bristol office.
