What you'll be doing:
1. Site surveys and assessments of the capacity of the plant to meet future demands.
2. Feasibility, outline, and detailed mechanical design, including P&IDs, hydraulic design, design risk assessments, control philosophies, commissioning strategies, cost and programme estimations, plant and equipment specifications and carbon calculations.
3. Technical report writing at all stages of the project lifecycle.
4. Working with multi-disciplinary teams with clients within the UK.
5. Production of general arrangement drawings and detailed mechanical design drawings.
6. Supporting bids, fee proposals or offers of service; development of activity schedules/work plans.
7. Understanding of DSEAR, CDM, WIMES, British and European Standards and other statutory, regulatory, and non-regulatory provisions and guidance.
8. Participation in Hazard Studies including HAZOP, Access, Lifting and Maintenance.
9. Contributing to the development of standard and bespoke design solutions for the water industry and beyond.
10. Performing calculations and reports, developing schedules etc.
11. Considering CAPEX and OPEX implications of design decisions at all stages of a project.
What you'll bring:
1. A general understanding of water and sewage treatment processes and the associated equipment/system requirements.
2. Understanding and assessing client needs and objectives to successfully deliver project requirements.
3. Ability to think logically and also creatively 'outside the box' to provide differentiated solutions to problems, to deliver added value for clients.
4. Experience in the production of hydraulic calculations including but not limited to pipelines and pump duties.
5. Working with Senior and Principal engineers to undertake mechanical design either individually or collaboratively within multiple disciplinary teams to agreed standards of safety, time, cost and quality.
6. Production of design deliverables e.g. engineering documents, reports, assessments, calculations etc.
7. Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values, and culture.
8. Keep up to date with relevant developments within the discipline and maintain CPD.
9. An industry applicable BEng, BSc, or equivalent in a mechanical discipline.
10. Desire to work towards attaining Chartered / Incorporated status.
