Job Description
Job Duties:
* Supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in their learning and development
* Assisting teachers in planning and delivering tailored educational activities
* Providing one-to-one support to students to help them achieve their academic goals
* Managing challenging behaviour effectively and implementing behaviour management strategies
* Collaborating with educational professionals and parents to create individualised learning plans
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
* Understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning and behaviour
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Education: Relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Experience: Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with students with SEMH needs is desirable
Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
* Effective problem-solving skills and a patient and empathetic approach
Preferred Qualifications:
* Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate)
* Training in de-escalation techniques and positive handling
Working Conditions:
* This role involves working in a school environment with children and young people
* Full-time hours with occasional requirement for flexibility
* Temporary position with the potential for extension
