Job Role: Economics Subject Leader

Salary: £45,000 - £70,000 per annum

GSL Education London Branch is looking for an Economics Subject Leader to join a coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious Economics specialist to lead and inspire a thriving department. Economics Subject Leader Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Economics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
Plan and deliver engaging and challenging Economics lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5.
Oversee the curriculum development to ensure it meets national standards and student needs.
Prepare students for GCSE and A-level Economics exams with effective teaching strategies.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing intervention strategies where necessary.
Support and mentor teaching staff within the department.
Promote a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Ensure effective use of data and assessment to drive student outcomes.
Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the school’s vision for Economics.
Organise and oversee extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities related to Economics.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives and professional development.
Economics Subject Leader Requirements:
Must hold UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching Economics at GCSE and A-level.
At least 3-5 years of teaching experience in secondary schools, with previous leadership or management responsibilities preferred.
Strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to drive academic improvement.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and challenge students.
Demonstrated success in raising student attainment.
Strong organisational and leadership skills.
A valid DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
