We have a new and innovative post which will work on our Initial Ministerial Education (IME) programme with the opportunity to shape courses, conferences and policy. You will be responsible for ensuring that our academic courses for our trainee ministers and deacons are meeting the Church of Scotland needs and reflective of the demands of modern ministry. As you will be working closely with our Lead Academic Partner, you will bring your own experience of theological study alongside a track record of delivering a training and/or education training programme.
Bringing strong interpersonal skills including influence and negotiation combined with your knowledge of the workings of the Church of Scotland and its training and formation will allow you to lead and advise on our new IME programme.
The postholder is required to be a committed Christian with a live Church connection which is a Genuine Occupational Requirement in terms of the Equality Act 2010.
Director of Outreach
Could you play a part in leading and ensuring the effective operation of Edinburgh City Mission’s ministry and outreach programmes? We are looking to welcome a Director of Outreach to join our dynamic and growing team as we support churches in Edinburgh to engage in mission.
The Director of Outreach is responsible for leading and ensuring the effective operation of Edinburgh City Mission’s ministry and outreach programmes in the Edinburgh community and in partnership with Edinburgh churches; this role will include work on-site across Edinburgh. With responsibility for Edinburgh City Mission’s frontline service delivery, the Director of Outreach is the organisation’s safeguarding officer. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director of Outreach contributes to wider organisational leadership, decision-making, and culture and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
* Helping to build exceptional individual relationships with young people across S1 to S6 and delivering S1 & S2 group work.
* Helping to drive volunteer mentor recruitment. Consistently supporting, actively engaging and motivating mentors from training through the length of their engagement with the programme.
* Actively support MCR young people to set, experience then follow their education and employment pathways.
* Evidence progression, impact and best practice with YP input, quantitative feedback and qualitative case studies.
About You:
* Exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships with young people aged 11-18 years, education colleagues, volunteer mentors and local employers.
* Awareness and understanding of the principles of safeguarding and child protection.
* Ability and confidence to present programme information & deliver prepared training sessions to groups.
* Ability to work well on own initiative, as part of a team and on a flexible basis in response to young person and organisational need.
* An understanding of the challenges and barriers that care-experienced and/or vulnerable young people may encounter.
* Experience or a knowledge of processes to document and evidence good practice and positive outcomes.
You may have experience as a Youth, Community or Advice Worker. You will be an empathetic person who is open-minded, non-judgemental, resilient and who is driven to improve outcomes for care experienced and other vulnerable young people.
