Field based Engineer - Manufacturing Automation Home based covering North & West Yorkshire and surrounding areas c. £45k plus company vehicle and hybrid working Are you a multi-skilled Engineer with some automation experience? If so, please read on We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who has a keen interest in automation. Full training will be given, but you will need to be computer literate and extremely “hands on” with a background ideally, in both electrical and mechanical engineering. Duties will include: Acting as the onsite project lead, coordinating activities and ensuring smooth execution while communicating effectively with stakeholders. Using your software, electrical, and mechanical expertise to install, troubleshoot, and support advanced automation solutions. Configuring hardware like HMIs, PCs, PLCs, barcode scanners, vision systems, and coders, while diagnosing Ethernet and RS232 faults. Delivering training on system operations, confidently leading discussions with colleagues and clients, and ensuring seamless integration with ERP/MES platforms using Microsoft SQL. You will also conduct project analysis, collaborate with internal teams to test new devices, and promptly address issues. You will be expected to be part of the on-call rota to provide timely customer support when required. To succeed in this role, you’ll need: 5 years in engineering roles, ideally as a project engineer. Strong knowledge of software, electrical, and mechanical systems, with hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting automation devices. NVQ Level 3, HNC, or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering. Proven ability to engage with clients, lead discussions, and deliver effective training. A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel across the UK and internationally. A proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
