Senior Clinical Fellow in Diagnostic Neuro Radiology
University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust
Applicants are invited to apply for a full-time Senior Clinical Fellow in Diagnostic Neuro Radiology at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. We aim to provide first-class patient care, and to that end, a significant degree of subspecialisation has occurred within the imaging department.
At UHNM, there are currently 7 neuroradiology consultants, some with additional interests in interventional neuroradiology and head and neck imaging. We provide a first-class service supporting neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, spinal surgery, A&E, elderly care, maxillofacial and ENT surgery, psychiatry, and other specialties. The neurologists also provide specialist services in neuroinflammation, headache, etc.
Main duties of the job
UHNM has provided 24/7 stroke thrombectomy services for more than a decade. UHNM is in the top 3 busiest Regional Major Trauma Centres in the UK and is the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales. The appointed fellow will gain excellent training in all aspects of neuroradiology imaging.
The appointed fellow will be expected to prepare and present, under the direct supervision of a consultant, at the neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, stroke and neurology MDTs.
In addition to core diagnostic neuroradiology, the applicants can gain experience in:
1. Head and neck imaging
2. Head and neck biopsies
3. Nerve root injections and other minor spinal interventional procedures
The Fellowship is designed to be flexible, allowing adjustments to match the Fellows individual interests and expertise. There are extensive academic opportunities for Fellows. Involvement in research is an expectation of the Fellowship program with protected academic time. Candidates will receive assistance with their CESR application and portfolio development as needed.
About us
The University Hospital of North Midlands is a standalone training scheme (a part of West Midlands School of Radiology). We currently have 38 trainees and are the main teaching hospital for the Keele University Undergraduate Medical School. There are close ties with the University of Keele and Staffordshire University.
In addition, there will be opportunities to provide teaching sessions to the Radiology registrars on the training scheme and a lecturer role to medical students at Keele University. Research is a growing area of activity. A specialised research team within the department will help support research, studies, and collaboration with other centres and the industry.
We are a top-ranked trauma unit in the country, and a Clinical Fellow job here will provide great exposure to acute body radiology imaging.
