Responsibilities:
1. Encourage the people we support to make their own choices about everyday things such as what to wear, what to do, what to eat, as well as bigger decisions such as where to live, how to spend their money or where to go on holiday.
2. Enable the people we support to fulfil those choices, including structured activities which help each individual to develop their confidence and skills.
3. Assist the people we support to meet their responsibilities such as paying bills, looking after their homes, being good neighbours, and keeping in close contact with friends and family.
4. Encourage involvement in company-related activities such as training, recruitment of new staff, and attending house meetings.
Requirements:
1. Support individuals to carry out normal household tasks.
2. Understand principles of respect and dignity.
3. Exhibit patience and empathy.
4. Provide intimate personal care with dignity and respect.
5. Demonstrate good communication skills adapted to suit the situation.
6. Ability to speak on behalf of others and communicate with a range of professionals.
7. Possess good written skills to record events with empathy and meaning.
8. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and information retrieval.
9. Good observational skills.
10. Ability to work as part of a team.
11. Ability to maintain consistent standards.
12. Ability to make and follow through on decisions.
13. Creativity and organizational skills.
14. Ability to manage and record finances.
15. Driving ability and use of your own vehicle is essential.
