Role Overview
Are you ready to design impactful, high-fidelity training programs that strengthen cybersecurity teams globally? We are seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to lead the development of engaging, hands-on training programs that help organizations defend against emerging threats. This role will blend instructional design expertise with cybersecurity knowledge to create experiential, high-impact learning experiences.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of instructional materials, training programs, and courses focused on cybersecurity skills.
Conduct learning needs assessments and align training programs with mission or business requirements.
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, scenario developers, and Red/Blue Teams to create interactive training solutions.
Design real-world exercises, technical labs, and cyber range activities that simulate realistic threat scenarios with high impact learning outcomes.
Ensure training programs are adaptable for diverse audiences, from entry-level security professionals to experienced practitioners.
Develop assessment tools and evaluation criteria to measure learning outcomes and enhance training effectiveness through iterative improvements.
Manage e-learning platforms and cyber range integrations to ensure seamless delivery of training content.
Provide methodological guidance to content creators, applying tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods.
Lead the creation of a content generation and management framework for both theoretical and hands-on cybersecurity training.
Analyze emerging cybersecurity trends and incorporate them into learning modules.
Translate cognitive and training science into technical specifications and engaging learning experiences.
Create supporting materials, including multimedia (audio, video, simulations, role plays) to enhance learner engagement.
Conduct periodic reviews and updates of course content to maintain accuracy and relevance.
Lead post-training debriefs and continuous improvement processes based on participant feedback.
Critical Skills and Qualifications
3+ years of experience in instructional design or related fields, ideally with a focus on cybersecurity or technical training.
Strong understanding of adult learning methodologies, instructional strategies, and digital learning design.
Experience developing content for virtual labs, e-learning platforms, and cyber ranges.
Technical familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, including incident response, threat detection, and offensive/defensive tactics.
Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into engaging and accessible learning content.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams in remote environments.
Knowledge of training principles for curriculum design, teaching, and evaluation.
Experience creating modular training programs with measurable learning outcomes.
Knowledge of industry frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, SFIA, e-CF and similar.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work across multicultural teams.
Experience developing and evaluating learning activities such as role plays, simulations, and hands-on exercises.
Familiarity with Instructional Systems Design methodology.
Preferred Background
Experience working in government, defense, or critical infrastructure sectors.
European candidates strongly preferred due to the nature of the projects and potential security clearance requirements.
