Job Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Gateshead. We are looking for a committed and experienced individual to support neurodivergent students and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and learning difficulties. This role involves working one-to-one and in small groups, helping students develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to students with SEND, adapting learning materials where necessary
* Assist in managing behavior effectively using a firm but fair approach
* Encourage independence and confidence in students
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement support strategies
* Create an inclusive and positive learning environment
Essential Requirements
* Experience supporting neurodivergent students or those with SEND (ASC, ADHD, learning difficulties)
* Strong behavior management skills and the ability to set clear boundaries
* A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
* Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Psychology, Education, Youth Work) – desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
