Appropriate Adult Worker Location: The Appropriate Adult will be assigned to a PSNI station and will be required to travel to other police stations throughout Northern Ireland. Hours per week: 19.5 hours Estimated shift pattern:1x 7.5 day 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm1 x 6 evening 5pm-11pm1 x 6 evening 5pm-11pm (& on call overnight 11pm-8am) Salary Range: £23,865 - £27,274 (2.0 – 2.6) Starting Salary: £12,409.80 per annum Duration: Permanent Closing date: 12 noon, Monday 10th February 2025 All our roles make a positive impact on the lives of others, the purpose of this role is to: Appropriate adults have an important role to play in the custody environment by ensuring that the detained person whom they are assisting understands what is happening to them and why, providing support, advice and assistance to vulnerable adults or juveniles detained in a police custody suite in line with the provisions of PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence (PACE) NI Order 1989). What we ask for from you: Committed to achieving OCN level 3 qualification in Appropriate Adults within the first year of employment. Must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 6 months experience of providing support to juveniles, mentally disordered or mentally vulnerable people. OR Demonstrate a minimum of 1 years’ experience of providing advocacy and guidance type support in another care setting Must be able to demonstrate experience of working with basic computer packages, the internet, and emails. Able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills relevant to the role of an Appropriate Adult. Able to travel throughout Northern Ireland if required, and living within approximately 20 miles of a PSNI Custody Suite (Belfast, Londonderry/Derry, Antrim, Omagh, Banbridge) Hold a current driving licence and access to a car is essential as this role may require the Appropriate Adult to travel regionally. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence.
