Job Description
Overview:
Sensible Staffing are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Temporary Mental Health Support Workers to join our team, working in a prestigious private service in Dover. This role involves providing critical support to patients with mental health needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and participation in therapeutic activities within our private hospital setting. The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management under supervision.
2. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, fostering a positive and therapeutic environment.
3. Facilitate and engage patients in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities as part of their treatment plans.
4. Assessment and Care Planning:
5. Participate in the assessment of patients' needs and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
6. Monitor and report on patients' progress and any changes in their mental health status to the relevant healthcare professionals.
7. Crisis Intervention:
8. Respond promptly and effectively to any crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
9. Implement de-escalation techniques and provide support during emergency situations, following hospital protocols.
10. Documentation and Reporting:
11. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, progress, and any incidents.
12. Prepare reports as required and ensure all documentation complies with hospital standards and regulations.
13. Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses.
14. Attend team meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment planning.
15. Training and Development:
16. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities provided by the hospital.
17. Stay informed about best practices in mental health support and incorporate new knowledge into practice.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a certificate or diploma in mental health support, social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
2. Experience: Previous experience in a mental health support role, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
3. Skills:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
1. Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR certification; additional certifications in mental health support or crisis intervention are advantageous.
2. Other Requirements:
* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Successful completion of background checks.
* Physical ability to perform job-related tasks and assist patients as needed.
