Description UE07: £40,247.00 - £47,874.00 Per Annum. CAHSS / School of Law. Fixed Term Contract - Temporary. Full Time - 35 Hours Per Week. We are seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to work on a Leverhulme-funded interdisciplinary project titled ‘A History of Hurt Feelings and the Law’. The project is a collaboration between Prof Chloë Kennedy (University of Edinburgh), Prof Katie Barclay (Macquarie University) and Dr Alice Krzanich (University of Aberdeen). Using Scotland as a case study, the project team will examine how courts have identified, defined and provided redress for injured ‘feelings’ across the modern period (c. 1750-the present). The post-holder will work on the medical dimensions of this project, conducting original historical research into the development of the psychological and psychiatric sciences and the interaction between medical and legal knowledges and expertise in constructing conceptions of emotions and emotional injuries. The post-holder will be based at the University of Edinburgh School of Law and will be line-managed by PI Prof Chloë Kennedy. This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working. This role will involve significant archival research, largely but not exclusively in Edinburgh. This is a fixed term post from 1 st May 2025 to 30 th April 2029. The salary for this post is £40,247 to £47,874 per annum.
