Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Main duties of the job
* To provide nursing expertise, facilitate evidence-based patient care, and support the Trust strategy of delivering quality healthcare services for patients and their families.
* To work within and support the Trust objectives and the ward department philosophy and standards.
* To supervise and direct junior staff, acting as a resource to provide education and training, which may include members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* You may be required to take charge of the ward area in the absence of the Ward Manager/deputies.

Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing Studies
* Teaching Qualification
* Post registration courses related to the Elderly Care Directorate
Experience
* Experience of caring for patients with acute and long-term conditions
* Demonstrable clinical experience
* End of life care
* Experience of caring for Stroke Patients.
Technical skills and competencies
* Basic IT skills
* Demonstrable ability with vital signs monitoring equipment and ability to recognise the deteriorating patient
* Non-IV and IV medication administration including administration of blood products
* Calculation of drug doses for infusions requiring frequent concentration
* Venepuncture and cannulation
* ECG recording
* Specific Skills for ECD e.g Care of Dementia Patients
Knowledge
* Ability to demonstrate fundamental nursing knowledge and practice skills in the care of the elderly
* Knowledge of the conditions relevant to the specialty
* Awareness of patient experience, quality, and safety agendas that support Governance Frameworks
