The role
As a Business Systems Analyst, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll analyse, develop, maintain, and support engineering software applications in accordance with the roadmaps for their specialist area, in order to fully support business requirements and deliver solutions in-line with business and IT strategy.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide core skills and consultancy whilst working as part of a wider team of analysts. All Analysts will be a specialist in an area of engineering software as used across the Babcock business. Reporting to the Solution Lead and joining a small team, liaising with internal stakeholders daily. Further responsibilities include:
1. Investigating operational needs and problems, and opportunities, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes and organisation
2. Supporting with the investigation and resolution of issues relating to applications
3. Assisting with specified maintenance procedure
4. Installing or removing software, using supplied installation instructions and tools including, where appropriate, handover to the client
5. Conducting tests, correctingmalfunctions, and documenting results in accordance with agreed procedures. Reporting details of all software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and is fully remote. If preferred, there is possibility that the successful candidate can work from a Babcock hub, including but not limited to Portsmouth, Plymouth, North or South Bristol, Helensburgh and Dunfermline.
Essential experience of the Business Systems Analyst:
6. IT or engineering related background.
7. Experience in managing and maintaining IT solutions.
Candidate will have basic knowledge of one or more of the following:
8. Computer Aided Design
9. Product Lifecycle and/or Data Management
10. Computer Aided Manufacturing, including Computer and/or Direct Numerical Control
11. Design Analysis
12. Integrated Logistic Support and Technical Publications
13. Manufacturing management systems
14. Laboratory Management systems
15. Project controls, planning and reporting
Qualifications for the Business Systems Analyst:
16. An IT or Engineering related Degree or equivalent qualification is not essential but would be desirable
