We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Autism Support Worker to join our team and help us make a positive impact on the lives of our students. This role is perfect for someone who is caring, patient, and eager to support children with autism in reaching their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and group support to students with autism across a range of abilities and needs.
2. Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
3. Support students in their social, emotional, and academic development.
4. Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
5. Help manage sensory and behavioural challenges in the classroom.
6. Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and therapists to deliver a holistic support system for students.
7. Encourage independence, confidence, and communication skills in students.
8. Monitor and report on student progress, ensuring their needs are being met.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience working with children or young people with autism or other special educational needs.
2. A compassionate and patient approach with the ability to build strong relationships with students.
3. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
4. Flexibility and adaptability to respond to students’ varying needs.
5. Basic knowledge of autism and related challenges; further training will be provided.
Desirable:
1. Relevant qualifications in child development, education, or autism awareness.
2. Previous experience in an SEN setting or working in a school environment.
3. Understanding of sensory processing challenges and behaviour management techniques.
