Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine with Special Interest in PHEM

We are looking for an Emergency Medicine Specialty Doctor with a specialist interest in Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine to join our expanding team of SAS doctors in North Cumbria. This job includes dedicated time each week for Pre Hospital Emergency Medicine Training (PHEM). You will be supported to attain your individual career goals whilst providing high quality emergency care to our semi-rural population. After a period of induction at your base site, you will work sessions at both the Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle (CIC) in the north of the county and West Cumberland Hospital (WCH), Whitehaven on the stunning west coast.
Main duties of the job
The PHEM section of the job plan is working alongside the Great North Air Ambulance Service. This will include a number of helicopter and car shifts working 12 hours shifts both day and night. There will be opportunities to take part in Pre Hospital clinical governance, audit and research projects, training and educational courses as an attendee and as a faculty helper.
Our Specialty Doctors work as part of a 24hr "Senior Decision Maker" (SDM) rota alongside Emergency Medicine Higher Specialist Trainees and RCEM Credentialed Senior Advanced Clinical Practitioners. You will work under the supervision of duty Consultants who are present on both sites between 0800-0000 and on-call thereafter.
Suitably experienced and interested SAS doctors are also able to take up roles as clinical and educational supervisors, appraisers, research investigators and to apply for leadership positions within the Trust.

The MDDF is led by the Deputy Medical Director for Professional Standards along with our International Medical Graduates (IMG) Tutor, Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) lead, Locally Employed Doctors (LED) lead and Speciality and Associate Specialist (SAS) lead. We offer a suite of professionalised development and support including;

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice MBBS or equivalent medical degree Current certification in 2 out of 3: ALS/ACLS, ATLS/ETC, and APLS/EPALS
* Evidence of progress towards MRCEM
Experience and Knowledge
* Can demonstrate successful completion of foundation competencies or equivalent Minimum of at least four years' full-time postgraduate experience (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in Emergency Medicine or its allied specialties (acute medicine, anaesthetics, intensive care, or paediatrics). Minimum of 12 months working in Emergency Medicine with evidence of knowledge, skills, and experience equivalent to a minimum of RCEM Entrustment Level 2b across all clinical RCEM SLOs Minimum of 12 months working for an NHS organisation
* Evidence of knowledge, skills, and experience equivalent to RCEM Entrustment Level 3 across all clinical RCEM SLOs Minimum of 3 months in Anaesthesia and/or Intensive Care Medicine Experience of working in Paediatrics - general or emergency medicine. POCUS experience
Management & Administrative
* Ability to organise and manage own workload efficiently and prioritise clinical need Ability to maintain accurate and legible records.
* Experience of common emergency medicine management tasks
Teaching, Research & Audit
* Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate multi-professional medical workforce Ability to motivate and support multidisciplinary team. Experience of quality improvement and/or medical audit
* Experience of Clinical Governance.
