Summary:
The Operator/Maintainer will be responsible for operating and maintaining the assets associated with the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on multiple sites in Cornwall and one site in Wiltshire, UK. The primary base for the operator will be in Cornwall.
The Operator/Maintainer will also carry out PPM’s and reactive maintenance across the sites. All travel and overnight expenses will be paid for by the company in line with the expenses policy.
The Operator’s main working hours will be 8am-4pm Monday to Friday, however the need to cover holiday & sickness on other days, including weekends and Bank Holidays will be expected, with overtime or rest days in the week given.
The on-site WWTPs receive mixed effluent from the customer and requires treatment to a high standard. The WWTP processes therefore require regular monitoring for any deviation from the operational plan.
The Operator/Maintainer will be expected to implement monitoring control activities and
implementation of operational changes. They will also be expected to maintain analytical data into a computer-based system to record plant performance. The Operator, after carrying out testing and analysis, will respond to results by optimising the WWTP process to ensure the plant is working optimal, within its set operating limits.
The role also requires that the assets are operated at optimum performance at all times, the operator will form part of a team framework to assist in this task.
The role requirements are the safe & seamless operation of the WWTP in accordance with the regulatory consent and without interruption to the customer’s production activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To undertake the role of plant operator across several sites primarily based in Cornwall.
To ensure the wastewater treatment plant is operating correctly and protect the EA or water authorities consent levels by carrying out sampling and testing and general plant maintenance.
Carry out PPM & Reactive maintenance.
Source and order necessary parts to carry out a repair.
Manage and deal with any issues that may arise, including liaising with clients.
Manage and organise chemical deliveries, spare parts quotes, and orders.
Develop, monitor, evaluate and propose revisions to operating procedures.
Be responsible for the Health & Safety and Environmental matters on-site; keeping site registers and carrying out inductions.
Carry out general housekeeping and cleaning of equipment.
Preparation of reports, timesheets, risk assessments, method statements as well as data collection from plant operations.
To occasionally cover the operation of wastewater plants when other operators are sick or on annual leave including weekends and bank holidays. Also, to help cover sites during the period between Christmas and New Year.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
GCSE’s or equivalent.
Experience in wastewater preferable but not necessary. Ideally some background in biology or chemistry.
Mechanical qualifications and/or proven experience.
Computer skills including some knowledge of Word & Excel.
Good communication skills.
Full UK driver’s License.

The salary is between £30,000 & £36,000 per year, depending on your professional experience
