Job Summary
This is an exciting full-time role (37.5 hours per week) and requires an innovative individual who will be responsible for progressing the Pharmacy department's Medicines Safety and Clinical Audit strategies as part of a team. You will have the characteristics of a self-motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking individual with excellent communication skills, a background in acute hospital pharmacy service provision such that you can provide leadership and clinical expertise to shape the Medicines Safety and Clinical Audit programme for the Trust. There will be opportunities to lead, undertake and publish research as part of an innovative Pharmacy team.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with our consultants amongst other team members, you will:
* As the medication safety officer, promote the safe use of medicines across RNOH.
* Be a member of the pharmacy senior management team.
* Develop, monitor and review medicines-related policies and guidelines.
* Work collaboratively with pharmacy, medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and management to ensure implementation of local and nationally agreed pharmacy services objectives, relating to medicines safety and lessons learnt from medication incidents.
* Provide highly specialist advice, education and training to all grades of healthcare professionals as regards use of medicines.
* Manage medication incident reporting in the organisation, and improve the reporting and learning from these.
* Collaborate with the Quality and Patient Experience department to improve systems for reporting and collecting medication incident information.
* Develop and oversee a rolling audit programme addressing aspects of medicines use to ensure high-quality, safe and cost-effective use of medicines across the Trust.
* Provide high quality, evaluated pharmaceutical and financial information on medicines used in medical specialities.
* Actively present audit and research in Trust, local and national arenas.
* Manage a small team of pharmacists to deliver the medicines optimisation strategy for RNOH.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
* Current GPhC registration.
* Higher Degree / Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
Experience Essential
* Minimum 3 years' experience as a clinical pharmacist (post-qualification).
* Experience of delivering a strategy/programme.
* Demonstrable use of clinical audit and/or quality improvement methodologies to improve practice.
* Directorate pharmacist experience, including working with key stakeholders to implement strategic objectives and deliver CIPs.
* Experience in delivering training and education.
* Practical clinical experience.
* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Skills and Abilities Essential
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrates ability to negotiate successfully with key stakeholders to drive change.
* Good ability to organise and prioritise work.
* Analytical ability for problem solving.
* Ability to analyse data and produce reports.
