TEST COORDINATION ENGINEER - POWER ELECTRONICS
WHAT TO EXPECT
Join us as a Test Coordination Engineer - Power Electronics, where you'll play a crucial role in managing relationships with external suppliers, focusing on inverters and power electronics. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee suppliers' test plans, ensuring they comply with all required standards. This will involve regular negotiations and clear communication to address any issues related to failures and ensure timely delivery of parts.
In this role, you'll also collaborate with software & system test specialists to enhance outcomes by defining & delivering further testing at JLR. This includes overlay checking of hardware, software and system, and support issue investigation for inverters on Electric Drive Units (EDUs) fitted onto rigs and vehicles.
Furthermore, you'll coordinate various tasks and maintain ongoing negotiations with suppliers to monitor their actions and progress. Your goal will be to ensure that all processes run smoothly and efficiently, ultimately improving performance and reliability in our manufacturing operations.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Assist in the development and production release phases for Power Electronic components. Ensure that any required new test methods are created and released in a timely manner.
* Plan and track tests using X-Ray (JIRA-based test manager) alongside Enovia TRM, supported by the 'Global Test Platform' for standardized processes and tools.
* Aid the test facility (operations) team by ensuring rig interfaces to the component are documented and that the test content is clear and plausible for rig operation and capability.
* Mentor and coordinate the test team, including junior engineers and apprentices, some of whom will be working from different locations and time zones.
* Maintain ongoing negotiations with suppliers to monitor their actions and progress, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently, leading to improved performance and reliability in manufacturing operations.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
* Conducting and managing tests for components provided by Tier 1 suppliers to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
* Overseeing the release process of hardware related to powertrain components, ensuring they meet design specifications and performance criteria.
* Coordinating system activities and ensuring seamless integration and functionality of hybrid or inverter products within the overall system.
* Setting up and executing tests on testing rigs to validate the performance and reliability of various components.
* Applying software testing principles and methodologies to ensure that software components meet required standards and function correctly.
