Role Overview As our Recovery Theatre Practitioner, you'll be an important part of our operating theatre team, providing both clinical and technical assistance. You'll help to assess patient needs, and then implement and maintain agreed standards of care. You will work in our busy and dynamic operating theatre, as part of a multi-disciplinary team that’s setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 6 operating suites covering Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. And we work with surgeons who are the very best in their field. You’ll help us make health happen by: To be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the post anaesthetic care unit(Recovery) team and to participate in the assessment of adult and peadiatric patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care. To participate as a post anaesthetic care unit(recovery) nurse, providing physical and psychological care to the immediate post-operative patients. Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis. Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment. Assist the team leaders in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery. Provide immediate post-operative care. Provide initial emergency care as required Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the team leader ensuring patient, visitors and staff safety. Ensure all equipment is checked prior to use and any faults reported to the nurse in charge of the recovery. Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives. Adhere to the procedures for the use of supplies, ordering requirements for the Department as directed by line manager. Ensure the accurate collection of data in relation to theatre activity. Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: NMC Registered Nurse (Adult and/or Children) Alternatively, you’ll be HCPC registered with a Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies.
