Base pay range Location: Henley-on-Thames (Predominantly office-based, with some travel) 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays) The Role We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Commercial Director to lead and grow our property financing and lending business. This is a key leadership role for a strategic thinker with a strong background in commercial real estate finance, loan structuring, and credit risk management. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, developing new lending opportunities, and managing key financial transactions. Key Responsibilities Loan Origination & Structuring – Lead the origination, structuring, and negotiation of commercial real estate loans, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and profitability targets. Deal Lifecycle Management – Oversee transactions from initial inquiries to loan repayment, ensuring smooth execution. Credit Analysis & Risk Management – Oversee underwriting, due diligence, and credit risk assessments in line with company guidelines. Portfolio Management – Monitor the performance of the existing loan portfolio, proactively identifying and mitigating risks. Legal & Documentation Oversight – Work with external legal teams to draft and negotiate facility agreements, security documents, and related legal contracts. Transaction Management – Supervise the end-to-end process from deal instruction to post-completion, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Business Development & Growth – Identify and secure new lending opportunities to expand market presence and profitability. Stakeholder & Relationship Management – Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with borrowers, brokers, investors, and key industry stakeholders. Market & Regulatory Awareness – Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory developments impacting the commercial real estate sector. Reporting & Forecasting – Provide strategic insights on business performance, pipeline activity, and financial forecasting. Supporting Wider Business Operations – Assist in managing projects and new business lines across the company as directed by senior management. Key Skills & Experience Proven experience in commercial real estate finance, structured lending, or credit risk management. Strong financial and credit analysis skills, including the ability to write well-structured credit papers. Solid understanding of financial risk, legal documentation, and commercial lending practices. Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills. Highly numerate with a data-driven, analytical mindset. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. A strategic leader who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
