This post works across the Team Barts Health Psychological Support Service (PSS) and the Education Academy (EA), with their time split between the two areas (60% clinically and 40% education).
Candidates should be qualified and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist with experience in working in the NHS.
The post holder will sit within PSS for professional supervision and support and also for processing of referrals, whilst taking the lead in PSS for all EA psychological support and EA learning and development work. The post holder will sit within the EA for managerial support.
The focus of the clinical work will be across two days per week working in the Education Faculty face to face with our doctors in training (Resident doctors) to help them feel supported and to work effectively in a pressurised work environment. This will include providing one on one sessions, teaching sessions and facilitated training sessions, drawing on sound psychological principles and evidence based practice.
The post holder will be expected to have experience teaching and running group programmes as a qualified practitioner psychologist. They will also be expected to have a post qualification training in psychological models that are most impactful in hospital settings such as third wave cognitive behaviour models or systemic training. Post qualification experience using trauma models is desired.
Main duties of the job
Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew's and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award winning. These departments are teaching areas with fully equipped simulation and clinical skills teaching and Haptic Clinical Skills facilities.
Therefore, the post would be based at the Royal London but be expected to work across Barts Health Trust routinely. This is primarily a face to face role with limited opportunity to work from home. The post holder could consider a seconded position to this role.
This is a 10 month, fixed-term contract and is full time. The role is split between the Education Academy as an Education Fellow (.4wte) and as a Practitioner Psychologist (0.6wte) with Team Barts Health Psychological Support Service (PSS).
The post is covered by the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales), as amended from time to time.

Job responsibilities
The contract is 10 month, fixed-term. 40% of the time will be dedicated to Education Delivery. 60% of the time will be undertaken within the chosen Clinical Speciality. This is a 37.5 hour week contract with the aim of minimal on calls, nights or weekends as part of this post. This will be agreed before appointment and in response to clinical and professional development need. Banding 1A on MN37 pay scale.
Although this position is a 10 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 10 months.

* At least one specialist training in a key relevant modality: a form of third wave cognitive behaviour therapy, specialist trauma therapy, Compassion-focused therapy or systemic psychotherapy
* Clinical supervision training for Doctoral trainees
