Summary of Position Purpose:
* Implementation and management of an effective legal compliance program – focusing on global safety standards and directives relating to machinery equipment.
* Act as the company expert, resolving employee concerns and educating the team on the latest regulations and associated design philosophies.
* Oversee test and verification of product moving through engineering.
Primary Individual and Team Responsibilities:
* Manage the Donaldson BOFA Compliance and Test Team.
* Act as the technical authority for all legislative compliance and product safety.
* Technical file creation, maintenance and ownership.
* Actively maintain and update approvals / certifications on units to latest relevant standards.
* Act as P.O.C for all external compliance testing (e.g. 61010, EMC, IP etc.).
* Carry out detailed testing on all new and existing products where required to generate reports and DoC Documentation.
* Balance demand with cost to implement and offer the best value proposition to a compliance requirement.
* Carry out inspections and analysis of products in accordance with the appropriate global legal safety requirements to enable product certification.
* Participate in the design of new products in order to ensure compliance with the required certifications.
* Ensure all parts used within products are compliant with the relevant directives and standards such as RoHS, REACH, TSCA etc.
* Act as P.O.C for UL/METlabs audits and carry out/coordinate corrective actions where required.
* Maintain a working knowledge of current worldwide compliance regulations and directives.
* Ensure that all technical manuals and product documents are in accordance with the relevant directives and standards.
* Produce product level risk assessments to ISO 12100.
* Development and maintenance of relevant procedures.
* Support continual improvement of compliance delivery with regard to time, cost and quality.
* Provide training and guidance to junior team members.
* Carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the post.
* Support Sales and Product Support with approval related customer requests.
* Work with production to specify and approve product rating labels.
* Regularly audit Product Compliance documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk.
* Responsible for test and verification of new products.
Person Specification:
Essential
* Strong leadership potential with a positive hands-on approach.
* Deep understanding of CE Approval process, especially in relation to electrical machines.
* Prior experience working with external test agencies. Ie Eurofins, VDE, MET, UL etc.
* IEC standards (ideally Electrical Safety).
* Ability to understand schematic diagrams and electronic component function.
* Ability to research information and self-learn in fulfilment of above duties.
* Professional document and report writing.
* Ability to safely and effectively work alone or in small teams.
* Passion to learn and develop within a growing company.
* Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
* PAT and Flash (Hi-pot) testing.
* Design and construction of electrical machines.
* Electrical experience from within a manufacturing environment.
* Quality or inspection experience.
* Working knowledge of RoHS and REACH.
* Formal Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
