As the Rental Equipment Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations within our equipment rental department. This includes managing a shift of rental technicians, ensuring equipment is properly maintained and ready for use, and providing excellent customer service to our clients. Department / Location Department: Warehouse Operations Location: Gripvan Warehouse (designated site) 3. Reporting Line Reports directly to the Warehouse Manager 4. Job Purpose The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all jobs leaving the warehouse are prepared accurately and that equipment is presented in a manner that reflects well on the company. The role requires managing the shift’s overall workload, maintaining an overview of daily operations, and ensuring that any damaged equipment is promptly flagged to the job booker. The Shift Supervisor should also undertake minor repairs within their skill set to minimise equipment downtime. This position requires high attention to detail, the ability to work under time pressure, strong team management skills, and the capability to work autonomously. 5. Key Responsibilities A. Shift Operations Management Oversee daily operations for the designated shift (morning or evening), ensuring that all jobs leaving the warehouse are prepared accurately. Maintain a comprehensive overview of the workload, coordinating tasks and managing the shift effectively. Ensure that all equipment is presented in a professional manner, upholding the company’s reputation. B. Quality Assurance & Equipment Management Inspect outgoing jobs for accuracy and quality to ensure consistency with company standards. Flag any damaged or defective equipment to the job booker immediately. Perform basic repairs on equipment within their skill set to reduce downtime and maintain operational efficiency. C. Team Leadership and Supervision Manage and supervise the warehouse team during the shift, ensuring that all team members are clear on their responsibilities. Provide direction and support to team members, especially under time pressure or when issues arise. Foster a positive working environment that encourages accountability and high performance. D. Communication and Reporting Maintain clear and effective communication with the Warehouse Manager regarding shift progress, challenges, and any equipment issues. Ensure accurate documentation of all incidents, repairs, and any deviations from standard operating procedures during the shift. E. Problem Solving and Autonomy Work independently with minimal supervision, making decisions that align with company policies and operational needs. Quickly identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions to maintain workflow continuity. 6. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience A. Experience Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a warehouse, logistics, or similar operational environment. Demonstrated ability to manage daily operations and supervise a team effectively. B. Technical & Operational Skills Good understanding of warehouse processes and quality control standards. Basic technical skills to carry out minor repairs on equipment. Competency in using standard operational tools and technology for reporting and communication. C. Leadership & Communication Strong leadership capabilities with a proven record of team management. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with team members and management. Ability to work under pressure and make decisions independently. D. Attention to Detail Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high standards in job preparation and equipment presentation. Ability to quickly identify and address issues that could impact the overall efficiency of the shift. 7. Qualifications & Certifications Relevant vocational qualifications or equivalent experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field are desirable. Health and Safety certification (or willingness to obtain) would be advantageous. 8. Performance Indicators Accuracy and quality of jobs prepared during the shift. Timely flagging and resolution of equipment issues. Efficient management of the shift’s workload and effective team leadership.
