Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and versatile Video Content Creator to join our dynamic content team. This role combines professional videography and editing skills with a strong understanding of social media trends and storytelling. You will be responsible for producing high-quality video content that captivates our audience, from cinematic and narrative-led long-form pieces to snappy social media reels.
The ideal candidate will have a strong producer mindset, able to think on their feet and weave compelling stories even in situations with little preparation. You will also excel in pre-production planning, ensuring we capture the best possible footage for each story or location. A key part of this role is understanding what works on social media and YouTube, spotting hooks that can make a video go viral, and ensuring our content stands out in a crowded digital landscape—while staying true to our meaningful storytelling style and never misleading the audience. This is an exciting opportunity to improve and shape the visual identity of Manchester’s Finest and make a real impact on our audience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Video Production and Storytelling
o Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality video content for social media, YouTube, and other platforms.
o Take a producer-led approach to storytelling, communicating effectively with subjects on shoots to create engaging narratives.
o Be adaptable and resourceful, able to turn up to shoots with minimal preparation and still deliver compelling content.
o Conduct pre-production research and planning where possible, ensuring we capture the best angles, stories, and moments.
2. Social Media Savvy
o Understand the nuances of different platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and tailor content accordingly.
o Spot and create hooks that grab attention and keep viewers engaged, maximising the viral potential of each video.
o Collaborate with the editorial and social media teams to ensure content aligns with platform trends and audience preferences.
3. Professional Videography and Editing
o Shoot cinematic, high-quality footage using professional mirrorless or cine cameras.
o Demonstrate a high-level understanding of creative video lighting techniques.
o Use strong technical knowledge of sound equipment, accessories, and grip to ensure professional audio and visual quality.
o Edit videos using Adobe Premiere Pro, with extensive experience in the software and a decent understanding of After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
o Create motion graphics and other dynamic visual elements to enhance video content (experience in this area is a bonus).
o Ensure all content meets the brand’s high standards for quality, consistency, and creativity.
4. Collaboration and Teamwork
o Work closely with the editorial and social media teams to align video content with written articles and features.
o Support the wider content team with technical expertise and creative input, including assisting with smartphone content when required.
o Collaborate with account managers to deliver client-focused video content that meets campaign objectives.
5. Audience Engagement and Growth
o Create content that positions Manchester’s Finest as the go-to resource for recommendations in the city.
o Monitor video performance, analyse insights, and adjust strategies to maximise engagement and growth.
o Stay up-to-date with video trends and platform updates to ensure our content remains relevant and competitive.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience in professional videography and video editing, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
* Proficiency in using mirrorless or cine cameras and a high-level understanding of creative video lighting techniques.
* Strong technical knowledge of sound equipment, accessories, and grip.
* Extensive experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, with a decent understanding of After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Experience with motion graphics is a bonus.
* Strong producer skills, with the ability to think on your feet and create compelling stories in real-time.
* Excellent pre-production planning skills, ensuring shoots are well-prepared and efficient.
* Deep understanding of social media platforms and their video requirements, including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
* Creative mindset with a passion for discovering and sharing interesting stories.
* Ability to spot hooks and create content that grabs attention and drives engagement.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
* Passion for Manchester’s culture, food, and events is a plus.
