We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Medicine department.
Our client is one of the largest NHS organisations in the UK, responsible for the promotion of health and well-being of around 472,400 people living in Wales. They provide local primary care services, run health centres, community health teams, and hospitals, delivering treatment and care when health and wellbeing isn't optimal. They are increasingly focusing on planning and delivering care based on neighbourhoods and localities to ensure people receive care as close to home as possible, where it is safe and effective. Additionally, they provide specialist services for people across South Wales and, in some cases, the whole of Wales. The Health Board serves a wider population of 2.5 million people across South and Mid Wales and manages various regional and sub-regional services including cardiology, cardiac surgery, PICU, neurology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, medical genetics, bone marrow transplantation, renal transplant, and toxicology. On-site services include 24/7 PCI, stroke thrombolysis, maxillo-facial, trauma, general medicine, general surgery, urology, and paediatrics.
The successful appointee will be expected to fulfill various duties, including:
1. Providing a service in the specialty to the hospitals designated, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of accidents and acute emergencies.
2. Taking responsibility for the care of patients in your charge and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the Department's Operational Policy.
3. Supervising and managing junior medical staff professionally.
4. Participating in a rota with colleagues to ensure cover of the Emergency Unit.
5. Engaging in teaching commitments of the Emergency Unit, including teaching undergraduates, nursing staff, and postgraduate trainees.
6. Assisting with Clinical Governance and Audit duties.
Our client is based in a desirable part of Wales, offering a unique blend of rural and urban living, with beautiful Welsh countryside and a dramatic natural coastline, along with a variety of theatres and live music venues.
