Job summary Northgate Practice are looking for a medical summariser to join our friendly, GP practice team. You will provide a key service within the practice. The post holder will be responsible for the read coding of relevant information into patients' electronic healthcare records on EMIS clinical system, adhering to the organisation coding policy. You will also be responsible for summarising new patient paper medical notes onto the EMIS system. You will receieve in house training and if required, external. Main duties of the job The following are the core responsibilities of the Medical Summariser. There may be on occasions, a requirement to carry out other tasks, depending on the needs of the Practice. This will be dependent on factors such as workload and staffing levels. The main duties are: 1. To be responsible for the coding of relevant information into patients electronic medical records on EMIS web clinic system via a system called DOCMAN. 2. Reviewing medical records and producing an accurate summary of the patients medical history. 3. Read coding the information into the practice clinical system. 4. Streamlining the flow of clinical correspondence through the organisation reducing the number of letters which a GP needs to process. Where there is uncertainty, to forward the letter to a clinician for safety. 5. To maintain confidentiality at all times, to respect patients privacy and act appropriately in the performance of the duties outlined in this post. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Medical Summariser may be requested to; 1. Review and update the Practice summarising policy as required, in conjunction with the Management team. 2. Support other admin staff providing cover for absences. About us Northgate Practice is a Practice with a list size of around 10,000 patients. We are based in a purpose built building in Aldridge, a suburb of Walsall. We have five GP partners, along with three salaried GP's, a full nursing team, administration and reception teams. We are a forward thinking Practice and are looking for someone who can fit in to this role which has been carried out by the same member of staff for over 15 years.
