Job Description
What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Sous Chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
1. Prepare all food items for a la carte and buffet menus according to hotel recipes and standards
2. Communicate expectations and standards to kitchen colleagues
3. Continually strive to improve food preparation and presentation
4. Maintain proper rotation of product to minimize wastage/spoilage
5. Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features, and promotions
6. Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
7. Follow kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards
8. Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment
9. Train and develop kitchen employees
10. Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Senior Chef de Partie/Sous Chef
11. Deliver Leading Quality Assurance Standards for your position
12. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:
1. Two (2) year’s experience of general culinary, pastry, baking, or butchery in a luxury hotel/resort environment is required
2. Documented culinary certification (Red Seal certificate, Journeyman’s papers, or international equivalent) is strongly preferred
3. Previous supervisory experience skills preferred
4. One (1) year international experience preferred and demonstrated creative culinary skills are required
5. Coach, train and mentor junior chefs
6. Experience in North American cuisine is essential (preferably in Southern/BBQ) with strong knowledge of smoker & grille is an asset
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written, fluent in English) are required
8. Proven ability to work efficiently in a demanding and fast-paced environment

Schedules: Irregular hours including nights, weekends and public holidays apply to this position.
