Local Primary Mental Health Support Service - Team Leader

The Bridgend Local Primary Mental Health Support Service is excited to announce a vacancy for a band 7 team leader.
The successful candidate will manage and provide expert support to a well-established team of mental health practitioners based across the Bridgend locality.
They will work in close liaison with colleagues in our psychology department, outpatients, and Community Mental Health Teams, and will monitor referral rates to ensure that our community receives a timely and proportionate service and treatment plan designed to meet their individual needs under Part 1 of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
Main Duties of the Job
To be responsible and provide effective leadership for a team of staff across the Bridgend locality providing a high-quality service within the resources available within a defined area, and specifically to deliver on the following key areas:
* Provision of support, advice, and training to GPs and other primary care providers such as practice nurses to enable them to safely manage and care for people with mental health problems.
* Ensure that a culture of effective assessment, formulation, and positive risk management is present in the team.
* Actively promote the development of evidence-based practice.
* To carry an assessment and intervention-based caseload and take a lead on management of complex cases and supporting staff in management of such cases.
* To respond as required to serious untoward incidents, complaints, and communications regarding team issues providing feedback to the team to ensure lessons learned are shared and inform practice development.
* Deputises for Senior Nurse as and when required.
* Respond to demand and capacity data in order to ensure that resources are used to maximum efficiency across Bridgend Local Primary Mental Health Support Service, and to report to, and work with the senior nurse and admin team leader when there are problems in meeting demand.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
* Qualified Mental Health professional such as a registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist.
* Evidence of post-registration continuing professional development.
* Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice.
* Sound working knowledge of the legal and policy framework underpinning mental health service provision e.g., Mental Health Measures, Mental Capacity Act, National Service Frameworks, Care Programme Approach.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.
* Evidence of achievement in clinical practice within the area of speciality.
* Relevant master's degree or willingness to work towards.
* Ward/Team management experience.
* Teaching experience.
Skills
* Organisational ability and time management skills.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
