Job Summary: Complete the 12 month Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme to become a fully competent John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer Job Description: Role: Customer Delivery Driver Trainee Position: Permanent Location: Theale, Reading, Berkshire Position : Permanent Hours of work: Full Time, 41 hours per week PM Shift 10:30-21:30 working 4 days out of 6 (Monday- Saturday). The PM shift includes working 2 in 5 Saturdays, working 07:00-18:00 Pay Rate: £12.50, with the opportunity to progress to £14.59 per hour. The PM shift attracts an additional shift premium of 3.1% of the base rate with a potential earning of up to £12.85 per hour. Our Drivers work 4 days out of 6 (Monday - Saturday) which means you’ll enjoy 3 days off each week to maintain a healthy work/life balance. Our Customer Delivery teams are the face of the John Lewis & Partners brand. As part of a 2 person crew, you will deliver, assemble and install a wide range of home furnishings, electrical products and sports equipment, ensuring every delivery is made with the highest level of customer service. As a driver for the Partnership, you will promote the Partnership brand through a professional and courteous manner to other road users. What you will be doing: You will be required to complete the Customer Delivery Driver Trainee programme to become a fully competent John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer, achieving the criteria measures at the end. This includes achieving your C1 licence. Your typical day will start with completing all daily vehicle checks and following correct defect reporting procedures. After you have safely loaded / checked your route you will then undertake your deliveries and collections for the day alongside your colleague. Communication with your customers is key and you will need to ensure you call every customer 30 minutes before you are due to arrive. Upon arrival you will deliver the customers goods to their room of choice and undertake any services that have been booked. These may include: Installation and disconnection of white goods Assembly of flat pack TV installations Finally, you will offer to take away the packaging. Upon return to the customer delivery hub, you will complete your end of day vehicle check and debrief, ensuring any issues/defects are reported. Once qualified there is opportunity for career progression to move on to an installer position. Required Qualifications: Full, clean, manual Category B driving licence (standard car driving licence) and previous driving experience Must be aged 18 or over Desirable Experience: Previous experience in a customer facing role Previous experience of the installation of white goods, building of furniture or associated skills Strong verbal communication skills both over the phone and face to face Please be aware that due to the nature and activities of this role, all successful candidates will have a DBS check carried out on them through a 3rd party registered body.
