The Role
As a Head of Commercial, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Joining our Naval Nuclear Commercial Team, you’ll provide support to our operations at HMNB Clyde; we are a key strategic partner to our customers, the MOD and the Royal Navy.
Day-to-day, you’ll oversee the commercial team delivering high value contracts primarily to the UK Ministry of Defence; as well as providing governance to internal stakeholders for commercial issues. You will need to have an eye for detail and an ability to manage multiple parallel and complex demands. Responsibilities for the role include:
* Managing a commercial team with responsibility for all commercial work across the function.
* Acting as an escalation point for high risk, complex commercial issues, liaising with legal and other teams.
* Developing positive customer relationships to represent the company on all commercial matters.
* Interfacing with a wide range of stakeholders from internal (commercial teams, finance, supply chain, project, technical) to develop commercial solutions to customer requirements.
* Overseeing the production and negotiation of complex changes to existing contracts together with gathering and assessing evidence in line with contract and statutory requirements.
* Developing commercial strategy including contract and pricing models and expertise in the understanding of risk, appropriate to the opportunity.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to our Clyde site in Helensburgh on a weekly/monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.
Essential Experience of the Head of Commercial:
* Significant commercial experience in robust management of large and complex contracts, bids and change initiatives ideally in a regulated or government environment.
* Demonstrable evidence of developing effective customer relationships and confident at negotiating independently within agreed delegations.
* Experience in effective management and development of a commercial team with proven leadership skills to maximise team potential.
* Experience in providing commercial governance and oversight to complex commercial projects.
* Ideally, you’ll have experience in a defence and/or construction environment.
Qualifications for the Head of Commercial:
* Holding a degree/equivalent in a relevant field and/or recognised professional qualifications is a requirement of the role.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
