You will have:
* A valid RGN nursing qualification
* Experience of managing a ward(s) or large nursing team effectively to meet the needs of the post fully
* The experience and ability to lead, manage and inspire a team
* Proven experience of managing complex and diverse care/rehabilitation services
* Demonstrate relevant understanding of the challenges associated with working with people with an acquired brain injury and other long-term neurological degenerative conditions
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Mentorship in Practice (MIP) qualification or a willingness to undertake, or extensive experience
Key responsibilities:
* Assists the Service Manager in the continuing responsibility for the management of the unit.
* Demonstrate professional leadership and provide ‘hands on’ support and guidance, managing staff activities and influencing their practices and attitudes.
* Assume line management responsibilities for the nurse/support worker team, providing operational support and direction, ensuring that performance standards are identified and met.
* Support and coordinate assessment of referrals and plan and organise admissions and discharge of people we support to the unit through coordination and review.
* Lead on agreed Quality Assurance Audits and Clinical Governance, ensuring relevant documentation is completed according to company policy and relevant legislation, and that episodes of care and treatment are evaluated and reviewed according to individual requirements.
* Deputise for the Service Manager in his/her absence as appropriate.
* Lead and oversee the nurse/support worker team in delivering the continuum of care planned for the individual, ensuring involvement with people we support, carers, and families.
* Lead on the assessment, planning, delivery, evaluation, and review of individualised evidence-based care and support, coordinating and training other staff to ensure delivery of planned care and using outcome measures to monitor effectiveness.
* Lead and advise on the health care management of individuals ensuring health promotion advice and opportunity is accessible to people we support both in service and via external agencies.
* Lead on and provide training and support for others to refer to appropriate external agencies when any health concerns or deterioration occurs.
* Advise and update specialists and non-specialists on the health care needs of the people we support, developing written reports to support information, effectively communicate service user individuals needs in meetings as required.
* Lead and support others to effectively communicate with all people we support, carers, families, and other stakeholders, reporting any compliments, concerns, or complaints according to company policy and effectively managing them as required.
* Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and external agencies, leading on communication with other services such as safeguarding, CQC, or others as required.
