The Role: As a Principal Nuclear Medicine Physicist, you will be a key figure in leading and developing nuclear medicine services. Acting as the Medical Physics Expert (MPE) under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations, you'll ensure the highest standards of safety, effectiveness, and innovation across our Oxford and Windsor centres. You’ll work closely with clinical teams and partners to standardise best practices across GenesisCare locations. Please Note: While this role is home-based, regular travel to our centres in Oxford, Windsor, and Guildford is required. What You'll Do: Provide scientific and technical expertise across nuclear medicine services, including molecular radiotherapy, PET-CT, diagnostic nuclear medicine, and radiopharmacy. Lead quality assurance programmes for nuclear medicine equipment to maintain safety, accuracy, and effectiveness. Drive research and development initiatives, supporting future advancements in nuclear medicine. Ensure compliance with IR(ME)R, IRR, and Environmental Permitting Regulations. Support training and development for clinical and technical staff, providing expert guidance. Offer radiation safety advice and assist in investigating incidents involving ionising radiation. Essential: Experience (or readiness to step into) a leadership role in nuclear medicine physics. HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (or working towards this). Certification (or eligibility) as a Medical Physics Expert under IR(ME)R. Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, including molecular radiotherapy and novel radionuclides. Experience with commissioning and acceptance testing of PET-CT and SPECT-CT equipment. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, statistical analysis, and programming (Python, Matlab, or similar tools). Desirable: Experience mentoring or training colleagues.
