The clinical biochemist team is currently comprised of 2 consultant grade Clinical Biochemists, this post is a new post and provides an exciting opportunity for the post holder to be involved in all aspects of service delivery including training, audit and clinical liaison. The role will include supporting the Chemistry department to develop key clinical aspects of the service and to achieve full ISO15189 (2022) accreditation.
Applicants must have experience of biochemistry. Applicants must be HCPC registered as a Clinical Scientist, have a higher degree (e.g. MSc) in an area relevant to the discipline and have completed part 1 and be actively working towards full FRCPath, for which support will be provided.
However, applications are also encouraged from candidates without FRCPath Part 1 who have completed their initial training and are HCPC registered. An appointee who does not have FRCPath Part 1 would be recruited initially to a Band 7 position and expected to work towards passing this examination, at which point they would be upgraded to Band 8A.
