We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Director of People to lead our People strategy and drive people-centred initiatives that align with PDSA’s purpose of keeping people and pets together when times are hard. With 49 PDSA Pet Hospitals delivering over 2.7 million veterinary treatments annually, that can only be delivered through our exceptional teams of over 2000 employees and over 2000 volunteers, no other charity matches our scale or has the same impact on people and their pets in their time of need. Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, within a new executive structure at a time of exciting change and transformation for PDSA, this role has sole responsibility for the people strategy. As Deputy Director of People, working closely with senior leaders, you will not only focus on developing and delivering the ‘People’ aspect of our strategy but you will also play an integral role in the overall development and delivery of our organisational plans. You will play a pivotal role in shaping PDSA’s future by leading a high-performing People team of around 30 colleagues, including three direct reports focusing on: • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement an innovative People strategy that aligns with PDSA’s mission, ensuring our workforce is ready to meet future challenges. • Culture & Engagement: Champion our values to enhance employee wellbeing and engagement, creating a culture of inclusivity, respect, and belonging. • Change Management: Lead transformative change initiatives, ensuring transparent communication and minimising disruption while supporting our teams through periods of transition. • Talent Acquisition & Retention: Build and execute strategies to attract, recruit, and retain exceptional talent, with a focus on fostering organisational stability and succession planning. • Learning & Development: Drive learning and development opportunities for employees at all levels, including leadership programmes to nurture our current and future leaders. • HR Operations & Compliance: Oversee HR operations to ensure compliance with legal requirements while maintaining fairness and inclusivity in all employee relations. • Budget Management: Manage the People department’s budget, delivering cost-effective solutions that support our strategic priorities.
