Job overview
This substantive post is a new post, arisen following the increased demands of Lewisham CAMHS. It offers a unique opportunity to join an established and dynamic service in Lewisham CAMHS, within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be based within the Horizon Generic team and the CRISIS team in Lewisham CAMHS. The Generic role focuses on the assessment of, and provision of specific evidence-based interventions for young people with complex mental health difficulties. The CRISIS role comprises 7-day follow-up (when urgent medical assessment and treatment is required) to those Lewisham-based patients presenting at any ED and brief intervention.
This is a time of change and expansion in the medical team in Lewisham CAMHS. We have a number of well-established and experienced Consultants. This role is a 10 PA WTE.
The successful applicant will also join the SLaM consultant CAMHS on-call rota (see On-call Section) and the weekly local consultant on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
This 10 PA post is split into DCC and SPA sessions: 7 PAs with Horizon team and 3 PAs with the CRISIS treatment team.
The post benefits from 2.5 SPA time (in total, pro rata) - structured professional activities, during which the post holder will contribute to service development, research clinical governance, and quality improvement, in addition to completing continuous professional development and pursuing other professional activities.
The main responsibilities of the post include:
1. Assessment and management of children and young people, and to provide psychiatric input for both routine and emergency clinical care.
2. Supervision of junior medical staff. It is expected the post holder will be an accredited clinical supervisor or will become so if not already.
3. Attending and chairing clinical meetings as timetabled.
4. Liaising and communicating with the MDT, other professionals, teams, and agencies.
5. Strong clinical leadership.
6. Provision of advice to other CAMHS teams.

Duties of this post holder also include:
1. Participation in peer and group supervision meetings.
2. Participation in training of medical students, psychiatric trainees, and multidisciplinary staff.
3. Adherence to agreed job plan and appraisal procedures set by the Trust. Also, to complete GMC Revalidation requirements within every 5-year cycle.
4. Maintain GMC registration, maintain a License to Practice, and participate in CPD to remain in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
5. Maintain Section 12 and Approved Clinician approval. If the appointee is not Section 12 or AC approved, they will be expected to become so as soon as possible.
6. Cover for colleagues is prospective.
