Senior Quantity Surveyor
North and West Yorkshire

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join this leading civil engineering business based at offices in North and West Yorkshire.
The role briefly encompasses the following duties:
1. Risk analysis and advising on contractual matters.
2. Identifying, valuing and agreeing additional works and scope within the project, including the preparation and agreement of variations, quotations and re-rates.
3. Preparation of contractual and general correspondence.
4. Raising and responding to contractual notices, early warning notices, compensation events, variations and the like, including negotiations with the Employers and his representatives.
5. Cost control, cost management and comparisons against budget and tender allowances.
6. Preparing and updating financial reports including accurate and detailed monthly CVR's, cash flow forecasts, weekly site costs, commercial risk registers, material wastage reconciliations and other financial and commercial reports as required.
7. Preparing, negotiating and agreeing interim applications, valuations and final accounts in conjunction with the Site QS, including substantiation of claims for compensation events, additional works, delays, disruptions and financing.
8. Providing advice and offering commercial support to the project team on costs, contractual matters, commercial strategies, risk and other commercial matters.
9. Working with the project planners to prepare and update the contract programmes. This includes benchmarking and the preparation of cause-and-effect programmes.
10. Procuring subcontractors/consultants, including the preparation of Subcontract documents/Consultancy Orders.
11. Mentoring and leading the site Quantity Surveyors and head office commercial administration resources.
12. General and commercial administration and management of Subcontractors/Consultants from enquiry stage through to negotiation and settlement of final accounts.
13. Attendance at progress meetings, design meetings, subcontractor meetings.
14. Maintaining accurate site records, measures and site diaries.
15. Upholding and enforcing compliance with company systems and best practice.
16. Working with the bid teams in the preparation of tenders.
17. Interfacing with the finance department.

8. Strong knowledge of NEC 3 forms of Contract.
9. Proficient Microsoft Office user including Excel and Word.
10. An understanding of planning software (P6 and MS Project).
11. Able to demonstrate a high level of numeracy and literacy.
