Job Summary:
The Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to the real estate investment team, assisting with property acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, compliance, and other legal matters related to the company’s real estate portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of real estate law. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic, fast-paced real estate investment company and contribute to its legal and business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Support for Real Estate Transactions:
o Assist in the preparation, review, and management of legal documents related to real estate transactions, including purchase agreements, leases, and sale contracts.
o Support the due diligence process for property acquisitions and dispositions by gathering and reviewing relevant documents, such as title deeds, property surveys, planning reports, and environmental assessments.
o Coordinate with external legal counsel and other parties during property transactions.
o Assist with the execution and closing of property transactions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations.
2. Lease Administration & Contract Management:
o Draft, review, and revise leases, amendments, and other legal contracts related to property management and investment.
o Maintain and update the contract management system, tracking key dates, obligations, and terms for leases, service agreements, and other contracts.
o Monitor and ensure compliance with lease terms, including rent reviews, renewals, and termination notices.
3. Corporate Governance & Compliance:
o Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant local and national real estate laws and regulations.
o Help prepare and file documents related to corporate governance.
o Support the management team in responding to regulatory inquiries, audits, or investigations.
4. Legal Research & Document Management:
o Conduct legal research on issues related to property law and compliance matters.
o Maintain organised and up-to-date legal files.
o Assist with the preparation of legal memoranda and reports for the management team.
5. Litigation Support:
o Assist in managing legal disputes and litigation matters involving the company’s real estate portfolio.
o Track litigation deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents.
o Gather and organise evidence and other relevant materials for use in litigation or dispute resolution.
6. General Legal Assistance:
o Provide administrative support to the legal team.
o Assist with the development of standard legal templates for real estate transactions.
o Handle inquiries from internal departments and provide timely, accurate legal support as needed.
Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in law or related field, and a paralegal certificate or equivalent qualification.
* Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on real estate.
* Skills:
* Strong knowledge of real estate law, property transactions, leasing, and corporate governance.
* Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
