About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Development Materials Engineer to join our team at Octagon Group in Gloucester. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that materials meet demanding specifications across diverse industries such as aerospace, defense, and high-performance automotive.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical expertise to select and specify materials, making critical decisions based on engineering judgment.
* Support technical troubleshooting to identify and resolve material failures, ensuring effective solutions.
* Contribute to initiatives such as material compliance, dual sourcing, and parts verification to maintain competitive standards.
* Collaborate with R&D and design teams to integrate new products into manufacturing processes.
* Develop and refine manufacturing processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
* Assist the project team in developing cost-effective manufacturing strategies and completing cost-reduction initiatives.
* Establish and maintain control measures to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
* Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, driving innovation to maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements
* Minimum HNC in a relevant science or engineering field.
* Experience in technical manufacturing engineering roles is advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to prioritize and support multiple projects simultaneously in a proactive manner.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, capable of analyzing complex technical issues.
* Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.
* Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration, with the ability to lead technical projects and write clear, concise documentation.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of £55,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance, pension scheme, and opportunities for professional development.
