Are you an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to step into a lead role? If so, join us as a Specialist Occupational Therapist where you will lead in the advanced assessment and treatment of residents who may have diverse and highly complex physical and neurological conditions. This position is for 37.5 hours per week.
You will be instrumental in promoting health and independence by delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions, along with providing clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team.
You will be key in demonstrating highly specialist expertise and specialist occupational therapy skills in areas such as occupational engagement, environmental adaptation, and the development and maintenance of skills needed for meaningful participation.
You will be managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans.
Your responsibilities as a Specialist Occupational Therapist will include:
1. Accepting clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of residents, and organizing this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time, and supporting junior therapists in this process.
2. Formulating and delivering an individual Occupational Therapy management and treatment programme based on specialist knowledge of clinically reasoned and evidence-based practice and treatment options.
3. Employing advanced clinical assessment, knowledge, and reasoning skills to provide treatment using a broad range of techniques and other alternative options.
4. Taking responsibility and overseeing the clinical OT supervision, education, and performance of more junior members of therapy staff, students (when present), and therapy assistants. Undertaking the supervision/appraisal of these staff groups, ensuring that all policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
To be a successful Specialist Occupational Therapist you will need:
1. Occupational Therapy profession qualification.
2. Extensive and relevant post-qualification clinical experience with children and young people who have complex needs.
3. Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches.
4. Demonstrated evidence of highly effective clinical reasoning skills.
5. Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models.

You will be working at a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation and complex care service for people with neurological illnesses, acquired brain and spinal cord injuries.
You will work alongside the multidisciplinary and clinical teams to deliver truly person-centred services where each individual is at the heart of everything. The service has extensive facilities to cater for specific needs for people over 18 years old, who have complex neurological care and rehabilitation requirements.
