Introduction Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce the continuation of this post. The post is suitable for a cardiology trainee with an interest in imaging to acquire skills for scanning, supervising and reporting cardiac CT and MR independently. There are also additional clinical service commitments. This post is not a recognised UK training post. However, the post-holder will have a named supervisor and support with undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust. We can support applications to get the position approved as OOP if the doctor is already in a training programme. An Introduction to the Division/Speciality from Dr Tom Mwambingu, Head of Service for Cardiology The Service Role The post-holder will undertake advanced cardiac imaging and clinical work in Cardiology in Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, with 6 imaging sessions and 2 clinical sessions per week. Lists include general cardiac MRI, stress perfusion MRI, and cardiac CT. This timetable will allow the successful candidate to attain level 2/3 accreditation in both cardiac CT and MRI. There will also be a requirement to participate in ongoing MRI research which is a requirement for level 3 accreditation. Duties will be based in both Pinderfields Hospital and Dewsbury Hospital sites. The main duties of the post will include: Supervision and first-reporting of cardiac MRI and CT (with appropriate consultant supervision) Out-patient activities/clinics Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings Involvement in relevant administration duties Teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities The above list is not intended to be exhaustive and it is likely duties may be altered from time to time in the light of changing circumstances and after discussion with the post holder. Terms & Conditions and Tenure Employment will be as a MYDoc Trust Registrar on Trust Terms and Conditions of Service. Appointment as a MYDoc Trust Registrar is intended to be for a maximum of a 12-month period as part of an individual development programme for the Doctor. This post is due to commence from the 6th August 2025. Pay Scale These roles are equivalent to a doctor on specialty training programmes and will be paid on the equivalent pay scale. The salary will be £61, 825 per annum. This is a full-time post. Appraisal and Revalidation This post is not recognised for training and brings with it an obligation to engage with the process of revalidation on an annual basis. All our Trust appointed doctors are required to engage positively with appraisal and revalidation. The Trust has procedures that comply with national recommendations. As a Trust employed doctor on a fixed term contract successfully appointed applicants will need to have a prescribed connection with Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust via GMC Connect and will therefore have Dr Richard Robinson, the Chief Medical Officer at the Trust as their GMC Responsible Officer. Continuing Professional Development The Trust requires all its doctors to engage with continuing professional development, guided by the relevant professional associations or Royal Colleges. Time and funding is provided according to departmental and Trust policies, subject to approval through the clinical management structures. There is a programme of mandatory training which all relevant staff must complete as required. Research Medical staff are encouraged to develop areas of personal and/or research interest. This can be developed in liaison with the Trusts R&D department and in line with prevailing policies and research frameworks. The Trust is developing an expanding and outward-looking research programme. Educational & Clinical Supervision The post holder will have a named educational supervisor and be expected to hold regular meetings with them during their tenure to ensure appropriate development during their appointment. Teaching The Trust is keen to maintain its reputation for high quality training and to attract the highest calibre of trainee and career-grade doctors. All senior doctors are involved in training our doctors, students and other professions. There are many opportunities to develop training and education roles and many have taken on educational leadership roles within and beyond the Trust. Audit and Clinical Governance There is a rolling half-day clinical governance programme and audit meetings are well attended and lively. The Clinical Audit Department assists with setting and supporting an audit programme for the Service with which all colleagues are encouraged to engage. Clinical Audit is considered within objectives as part of job planning.
