Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable young people with complex needs and behaviours, empowering them to overcome barriers to learning?
Fresh Start in Education are looking for an experienced and person-centred SEN Learning Support Assistant, with a background in complex needs, to work with a young person with autism and learning, communication and sensory needs .
This role involves planning and delivering learning and engagement activities at early years levels, as well as providing communication, emotional and behavioural support. Knowledge of PECS or Makaton is desirable.
The placements
* Working with your student on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis in their home or a suitable venue
* Planning, delivering or supporting 2-5 sessions per week. Each session is between 3-5 hours, during school hours and term-times only.
* Placements organised and supported by our dedicated teams
* Bank Staff worker – providing short-term provisions as and when they arise, paid via PAYE
What you need to apply:
* Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working with vulnerable children or young people with additional needs (SEN, SEMH needs and other barriers to learning)
* Experience delivering or supporting numeracy, literacy and communication skills in creative, practical and engaging ways
* Consistent availability to commit to a minimum of 2 sessions per week (a minimum of 2 working days)
* A commitment to keeping children and young people safe and a practical and up to date knowledge of safeguarding
