The role:
This person will positively impact the Partner Lending activities of the Group by ensuring that recovery activity is effective, and that management of the Group overall credit position is overseen correctly. They will have a substantial impact on the experience of SJP Partners and support the Partner Finance function to achieve its objectives whilst supporting wider corporate objectives. They will support relationship managers in negotiating effective repayment plans, whilst ensuring that clients and other key stakeholders receive the most appropriate outcome by liaising with SMEs in Legal, Regulatory, Tax, Risk and Finance.
What you'll be doing:
* Ownership of the debt recovery workstream. This includes initiating discussions with borrowers, agreeing suitable repayment plans, liaising with stakeholders to agree legal and other communications and reviewing debt settlement proposals.
* Oversee credit risk management, monitoring leading indicators of credit loss including loan delinquency, borrower business performance and loan to value. Ensure appropriate management actions are in place to mitigate the risk of credit loss.
* Support the continuing evolution of contractual obligations and policy development in relation to debt recovery.
* Where credit recovery is potentially impacted, support internal company-wide projects, such as Consumer Duty, to provide subject matter expert knowledge on the recovery process and associated communications and policy.
Who we're looking for:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional from the Financial Services industry with broad knowledge of lending and business financials. Their experience will have provided an excellent knowledge of business lending, credit risk management and debt recovery activities, together with experience of understanding and applying Credit Policy. They will have strong problem-solving skills and a high level of Excel proficiency and be able to understand legal concepts and work with internal/external legal counsel to effect debt recovery. To be successful in this role they will require high level financial literacy and be able to understand financial accounts and cashflow forecasts.
Essential Criteria:
* Knowledge of financial accounting (CFADS, DSC etc.) in context of assessing affordability of SJP debt.
* Experience/confidence reviewing data within Power BI (tool updated by the role holder for Divisional monthly reviews).
* High level of competency operating with Excel (utilised for assessing level of underlying delinquency).
* Understanding of legal aspects of loan contracts & in particular recovery options using these instruments (needed in financial distress cases).
* Able to oversee high volumes & prioritise cases where critical action required.
* Confident negotiating with SJP leavers (via email, verbally & potentially in person) repayment plans/options.
